1 student research assistant (SHK) in Philosophy / Philosophy of Mind / Political Philosophy
to work with Prof. Michael Pauen, project leader (Berlin) and Prof. Ali Teymoori, senior researcher (U Bergen, Norway)
Start date: 1 October 2024, end date: 31 October 2025
40 hrs/month, 13.46 EUR/hr

Part of the collaborative European project funded by Volkswagen Foundation: “The (trans)formation of a European sense of solidarity: Visceral politics and social belonging in a comparative European context”
Prof. Teymoori will conceptually and empirically examine the top-down framing of the European identity using two different methods: a) A discourse analysis of the European treatises and accords and b) a qualitative interview study of the European representatives' understanding and communication of European identity. Both studies aim at examining how a specific framing of European identity is related to and resonates with various emotional experiences of the citizens. Prof. Teymoori will prepare two manuscripts until the end of the contract which are to be published in peer-reviewed academic journals.
Tasks:
- Collaboration in the field of philosophy of mind, political philosophy
- Literature research, literature procurement
- Support / collaboration in a qualitative interview study on European identity
Requirements:
- B.A.; good knowledge of English
- Knowledge of common Office programs (Word, Excel, etc.)
- An interest in interdisciplinary research in the field of philosophy of mind, political philosophy is desirable
- Matriculation as a student at a university of the Berlin metropolitan region (Berlin, Potsdam)
