*LAST-MINUTE APPLICATIONS INVITED FOR 2019*

DAAD Scholarship -- for International Students only!

In 2019, one additional three-year scholarship will be funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) as part of their Graduate School Scholarship Programme (GSSP).

It is reserved for the best international students coming to Germany from abroad for their doctoral studies, or for international students who have lived in Germany only for a short while at the time of their application (see below for details).

Deadline for applications: 15 September 2019

How it works:

- You will have to apply to the Berlin School of Mind and Brain by sending the required information to mb-admission@hu-berlin.de (for details, see below).

- Note: Please do NOT use our online tool as the tool is not available for this round of applications!

- After receiving positive notification from us (i.e. after your successful application and after your successful interview here in Berlin) you will have to apply to the DAAD as well, but don't worry, you will receive guidance for that and it involves the same sort of documents that you will have to supply to us.

Preconditions for eligibility / suitability for these scholarships in 2019 are:

- At the time when the DAAD receives the nomination letter from the Berlin School of Mind and Brain (approx. October 2019), the last final exam (Master's degree or equivalent) of the student must have taken place no longer than six years ago.

- At the time when the DAAD receives the nomination letter from us (approx. October 2019), applicants must not have resided in Germany for more than 15 months.

- Please note that the DAAD scholarship comprises funding for three years.

The total scholarship value comes to:

-- a scholarship instalment of currently € 1,200 per month;
-- travel allowance;
-- payments towards health, accident and personal liability insurance cover;
-- a research allowance once of currently € 460 per year;
-- under certain circumstances, grant holders may receive the following additional benefits:
   - monthly rent subsidy;
   - monthly allowance for accompanying family members (about € 200 child allowance per child and about € 275 marriage allowance);
-- preliminary language course (if desired and possible with respect to the starting date of the scholarship);
-- a material resource and supervision allowance of currently € 1,000 per year, which is paid upon application to the host institution.
