Kosmos Summer University 2013

“Human sociality and the brain. Decision making in social contexts”

1–14 September 2013

Organized by the Berlin School of Mind and Brain, Humboldt’s KOSMOS Summer University 2013 “Human Sociality and the Brain –  Decision Making in Social Contexts“ focused on human sociality research at the interface between neuroscience and the humanities.

The Summer University brought together neuroscientists, psychologists and philosophers presenting the latest experimental results and theoretical findings regarding decision making in social contexts. Putting interdisciplinarity to work, the lectures presented a comprehensive overview of the most recent empirical developments, brought them into context, and shed light on the consequences of such findings.

The KOSMOS Summer University was organized with a special focus on the participants’ needs. It fostered intensive contact and exchange between participants and faculty. Participants were given ample opportunity to present their own work in small groups where they received first-hand comments and advice from top-level scientists. Moreover, hands-on courses on grant application writing taught participants to put their ideas into practice and develop a successful grant application in their respective fields.
